Ina Young
About Me
Ina Young, a native of Rostock, Germany, began playing the organ in her early teens and obtained her degree in Church Music from Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University in Greifswald. She studied organ with Professors Matthias Schneider and Johannes Gebhardt.
Ina served as music intern at the United Church of Christ- Judd Street, and as organist and youth handbell choir director at the First Chinese Church of Christ (UCC), both churches in Honolulu, before becoming the organist at Calvary by the Sea Lutheran Church in 2008. She also started a handbell ensemble at Calvary, a children’s choir and was the music director of the Performing Arts Calvary.
In March 2020 Ina became the organist and music director at St. Christopher’s Episcopal
Church, Kailua. While continuing the vocal choir there, she is also building a handbell/chime music program for everyone. She is teaching the Ostinatos (preschool aged chime ensemble), the Chimeleons (elementary school aged chime ensemble) and the Martellatos (multi-generational bell ensemble) as well as private piano and organ students.
